Social safety practices at Dutch universities can exacerbate the problems of misconduct. This is argued by Yolande Jansen, Natalie Scholz, Remco Tuinier & Susanne Täuber in an article published in De Groene Amsterdammer. Furthermore, they provide several anecdotes of misconduct in Dutch academia, shed light on abuse of power as a form of misconduct in the academic world and discuss how the mechanisms such as power, informal networks, and an obsession with reputation have received too little attention.
